Check it out. http://www.orangecountyrestaurantweek.com
I can’t believe it has already been a year since I first wrote about the Orange County Restaurant Week, but now we are already half way into this year’s awesome celebration of FOOD!
You only have until this Saturday, March 6 to check out the many hot restaurants in Orange County participating in this restaurant week. Enjoy awesome prix fixe lunch and dinner menus served at over a hundred restaurants, and at special prices.
I shared my list of restaurants I planned to eat at last year, so here …

What’s Your Walk Score?

Check it out. WalkScore.com.

It’s refreshing and great exercise. And if you’re like me, you get lost in your own thoughts whenever you go for a walk, but where is there to go?
Are there any parks nearby? Bars and restaurants to hang out with the friends? Or how about a nearby grocery store?
I love the idea of living an in urban environment where everything is walking distance, and anything not is easily accessible through public transportation. Unfortunately, living in Southern California, this lifestyle is almost non-existent, especially living in Orange County. …

It’s Not About You

I just returned from a business conference with some of my FBLA students. This year’s keynote speaker, Cary Trivanovich, had a very short and yet very different message compared to all the speakers I’ve heard speak at these conferences in the past, and there couldn’t have been any better time for the students to hear it. Most speakers seem to focus on improving yourself or motivating you to succeed.

The final words of his speech, “It is not about you.”
This post isn’t about the conference or my students, though. Rather, it’s …

Orange County LGBT Pride = Awesomeness!

It has been seven long years since the last official Orange County LGBT Pride Event took place in 2002. This past Saturday the 15th, this tradition made its return in Irvine’s William R. Mason Regional Park at the very first OC Pride: Picnic at the Park.

Now, I’m not a journalist, so I don’t pride myself in being able to do any research or speaking with any key individuals who put this event together. No, I am just a gay man who was …

OC LGBT Pride!

I owe Orange County an apology. I made a mistake in my last post and put OC on the spot for not holding their own gay pride event. However, I was wrong, but this is a mistake that I am definitely happy to be wrong about.

Buying into the OC Lifestyle – Long Beach vs. Anaheim (Part 1)

“NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2009 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. I call upon the people of the United States to turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists.”

I was torn — Anaheim or Long Beach? Yes, I know I’m a writer for an Orange County blog, but I was born and raised in LA County, and have lived …

Bike to Work Week

Yes, I have it easy. I live less than two miles from work. In fact, I already bike to work on a somewhat regular basis. But this week is Bike to Work Week, meaning now is the time for YOU to take advantage of the beautiful Southern California weather and ride your bike to work.
While May 11-15 is Bike to Work Week, this Thursday, May 14, is the actual Bike to Work Day, so if you’re lazy, perhaps you can aim to bike for just that one day!
Why Bike …

Petition for Harvey Milk Day

Harvey Milk — you may have heard the name, you may have even seen the movie. But for millions of Californians and Americans, the name Harvey Milk is synonymous with equality. He was a pioneer fighting for gay rights, and was one of the first openly gay men to be elected into office. After being assassinated in 1978, he has become known as a “martyr for gay rights.”

According to Equality California (EQCA), an organization fighting for equal rights, Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill last year to declare May 22nd …

The High-Tech Treasure Hunt

Summer vacation is nearly upon us! And whether you have plans to travel (plane fares are still cheap, right now, I think), or you are planning to find something active in the area to do on your free time, let me introduce you to a fun outdoor activity you can enjoy alone or with friends.
It’s a “high-tech treasure hunting” game called Geocaching, and it is definitely a past time favorite of us folks here at VitaminOC. If you have access to a GPS unit (iPhones and G1’s work great …

Warning: Full Puppet Nudity

Avenue Q at OCPAC
It seems that everything I write about includes something that is at least a little bit taboo, or something that involves breaking laws. This review is no different. I mean, who can resist watching Lucy the Slut perform on stage?
If you haven’t heard of Avenue Q before, it is a Broadway musical that features puppets on stage, and teaches the audience about the real life struggles and situations that we face fresh out of college.
I know what you’re thinking… Puppets? Real life “struggles”? It sounds …
