#FollowFriday Kevin Sablan (@Ksablan)

As promised on yesterday’s post “ We are doing things different on #FollowFriday ” we are going to recommend an interesting person to follow on Twitter and highlight them a bit more here on VitaminOC.

Kevin has been one of @VitaminOC ’s followers from its initial stages. He is currently the leader of the web task force at the Orange County Register. If you have ever wondered who is the person behind Orange County Register’s Twitter presence- well, Kevin  is the “go-to” guy of social media, and …

We are doing things differently on #FollowFriday

If you follow us on Twitter (@VitaminOC) you know that we love #FollowFriday because we like recognizing people and organizations that give us feedback, interact with us, or are doing good things in OC.
What is #FollowFriday?
Every Friday, tagging a tweet with #FollowFriday or #FF is a way to share with your Twitter followers someone that you think they should follow as well. Usually it is someone that you have built a relationship with online, someone that you want to highlight, or simply someone that is new to Twitter and you …

Sawubona!! Chris Brogan in the OC [followup]

Last night the Vitamin OC crew headed to Chapman Univ. to listen to Chris Brogan speak about social media! As you’ve heard us say before, the Vitamin OC staff is composed of social media enthusiasts and we were really excited to see Chris and get a chance to talk to him in person. Also, for all of those of you that missed the event (and shame on you!!) Michelle used her handy Flip Cam to bring you the lecture on VitaminOCtv.
In his lecture, Chris focused on the human and trust …

Angels 2009 AL West Champions!

Last night the Angels clinched their 3rd consecutive American League West Championship in an 11-0 win over the Texas Rangers!! This is the Angels’ 5th division title win in 6 years!
The 2009 regular season of Angels baseball was far from easy. The Angels were struck with injuries, an inconsistent pitching line up, frustrating hitting slumps and the death of a teammate. Yet they were able to surpass this and become the AL West Champs. It is amazing to see what the team has gone through this season and still be …

John’s Incredible Pizza = The Pizza Planet??

Have you been to the Buena Park Mall lately?
If you are like me, you probably haven’t been there ever since it became a ‘tween infested hangout spot, haha.  But if you drive by there, I am sure you have seen the new John’s Incredible Pizza that just opened a few months ago.  It’s a little hard to avoid the bright colors and lights that come off the restaurant’s entrance. You can read a bunch of reviews about it on Yelp.com . I haven’t been there myself so I cant give you …

Renovating an OC landmark

One of Orange County’s landmarks is undergoing a much needed renovation! Originally built as a scoreboard for the Angel’s stadium in 1964 the “Big A” that now stands in the parking lot of the stadium is being renovated! Even if you are not an Angel’s or baseball fan, I’m sure you’ve seen the 230-foot tall, 210 ton “Big A” as you drive down the 57 freeway.
Some history of the “Big A”
The “Big A” was built  in 1964 as a scoreboard for the stadium. It quickly became the icon of the …

ARTIC – Anaheim’s New Transportation Center

As an Anaheim resident, this weekend I received my issue of Anaheim Magazine. I am always happy to see the magazine in my mail because I enjoy reading about things going on in my community and it usually has some good stories and interviews with local Anaheim personalities.
As I flipped through the pages of the magazine,  a one page visually appealing article caught my attention. It had the picture of the stunning building shown above.  I quickly found out that that building will  the home to Anaheim’s new transportation …

Mardi Gras In July

Downtown Fullerton is hosting a Mardi Gras in July Celebration on Saturday July 11, 2009 in the Fullerton Museum Plaza.  Sounds like a really fun event that is raising money for a really great cause: the Women’s Transitional Learning Center!  The WTLC is a non profit community based organization of men and women commited to seeking solutions to end domestic violence and human trafficking. WTLC is the only domestic violence shelter program in Orange County that provides shelter for clients with substance problems, mental illness and human trafficking victims. Services …
