Young Love: Advice for the World’s First Blog Proposal

24 March 2009 by Valerie Ucab 2 Comments

love_watermelonThe world’s first blog proposal? Sweeet!

Marcy at The Glamorous Life Association has asked the entire blogosphere to write a post about Marriage/Love/Wedding and link them up HERE for a historic event. In honor of this event, I’ll share the few helpful hints I learned so far into my engagement.

I just got engaged about two months ago. For those of you who know me personally and are totally pissed I didn’t tell you, well, don’t be. I told five people the day it happened. Why, you ask?

My fiancé once knew a girl, who at one point, was engaged. She greeted people with her left hand out (Pope-style) as if she was expecting people to kiss it! This was her effort to show off her ring. So, I made my effort not to be like THAT girl. But, I probably went to the opposite extreme. I didn’t tell anyone else after the five. I thought, “they’ll find out eventually.” Okay, I know now that that was not the best idea. My bad.

Anyway, I can’t really give you any tips on marriage because I’m still in the beginning chapters of my love story. But I can tell you a few things to consider right after the big question.

– Tell all your friends. You’re going to want to tell the whole world; and you should. Avoid taking my oath to secrecy.

– Go get a manicure. Everyone is going to want to see your ring, so you’ll want to get your hand ready for the show! Don’t make the mistake like I did.

– Soak up the love. Once engaged, you’ll get that warm-fuzzy feeling you had when you two first started dating. It’s that something-new-and-exciting-is-beginning-feeling. You’ll notice that you are more affectionate and start thinking about all the wonderful things that make your new fiancé so lovable. If and when this happens…Awesome! It’s always a good sign when you know WHY you’re marrying this person. Also, that feeling just rocks! Who doesn’t love that feeling? Soak it up!

Well, that’s all I got for now.  I’m sure that I’ll learn a lot more as the months go by.  If you have any marriage or relationship advice, then get over HERE, and be part of a love story!

>>UPDATE: The proposal took place today at 3pm!  See it for yourself!
